The day I found out my colleague earns 30% more for the same role
It was an accidental slip. A teammate mentioned her CTC while we were chatting casually. Same designation, same team, joined after me but her salary was almost 30% more. My stomach dropped. I spent days debating whether to bring it up. I didn’t want to come off as insecure or difficult. But I also couldn’t un-know what I knew. Eventually, I had an honest, data-backed conversation with my manager. Turns out, I was right and they revised my pay. It wasn’t easy, but it taught me this: silence doesn’t protect you. Companies run on numbers. If you don’t negotiate, you leave money on the table. Have you ever been in a similar spot? How did you navigate it?

...ions should occur every three years, I never received one in my ten-year tenure. - My salary increments were minimal Rs. 100, Rs. 200, and Rs. 200 over three years. For two of those years, I was given a “needs improvement” rating, not based on my actual performance but because the company said someone had to get it. - My designation was changed unfairly. I was originally a Senior Laboratory Technician but was demoted to Lab Technician after 2.5 years. Later, in 2023-2024, my senior post was reinstated, but they framed it as a promotion when it was simply a reversal of the earlier demotion. - Salary discrepancies colleagues who initially earned Rs. 1,000 less than me eventually earned Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 5,000 more, leaving me behind financially despite my experience and tenure. - Limited opportunities for skill development, which affected long-term career growth. Ultimately, while I value the technical experience I gained, these factors made me feel undervalued and unrecognized for my contributions. That’s why I decided to move on.

...en felt imbalanced, making it difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Salary & Increment Issues Over the span of three years, my salary increments were minimal Rs. 100, Rs. 200, and Rs. 200 annually. Additionally, for two years, I was given a "needs improvement" rating, justified as a company requirement rather than an accurate reflection of my performance. This significantly impacted my financial progression. Company Culture & Job Security There were evident inconsistencies in promotion practices and employee recognition. Merit-based growth did not seem to be a priority, leading to concerns about fairness in career advancement. Additionally, long-term job security felt uncertain due to the organization’s approach to promotions and evaluations. Designation & Promotion Concerns - I joined as a Senior Laboratory Technician in 2014. However, after 2.5 years, I was reassigned to Lab Technician while a colleague who joined two years after me was promoted to my previous post. This felt unfair and demotivating. - In 2023-2024, during the increment cycle, I was given back my Senior Laboratory Technician post, framed as a promotion though it was simply a reversal of my previous demotion. - Despite company policy stating promotions should occur every three years, I did not receive a single genuine promotion throughout my ten-year tenure. Salary Discrepancies At the time of joining, my colleagues earned Rs. 1,000 less than me. Over time, their salaries increased by Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 5,000 more than mine, leaving me financially behind despite my tenure and expertise. All these factors lack of fair promotions, minimal increments, salary disparities, and limited skill development ultimately led me to leave the organization.

There is a lot of politics and the management doesn't address our issues, salary is decent but career growth is slow but rehire policy is bad impact for That is wrong under labor law old employees there is a 3 months notice period It is deliberate that this employee should not go to the competitor ,If an employee resigns, he is harassed by HR and HOD Environment and culture very bad , the lack of communication within the department , internl politics very high, company policies very good but no one following , egoistic and arrogant natur of manager's They take revenge for this at the time of your KRA Even if you have achieved your annual target most important the othere department does not value the marketing department
