This is perhaps more a reflection of my PhD supervisor and department (Zoology) than the university as a whole. I loved my time as PhD student there. The department supported student through teaching assistantships and helped with university admin. My supervisor gave me considerable freedom in the courses I took and the topic I chose for my PhD. I'm very grateful!

Dislikes

If I have some criticism, it's very small, and it is that perhaps I was given a bit too much freedom to find my own way through grad school. I little more direction (a slightly firmer hand) would have been very welcome. But I understood this about myself only in retrospect :-)
