Dislikes

- Some orgs within Uber, esp the COEs have an empire building nature. Some of the leaders have been sitting on these roles for quite sometime now and have mostly started just resting and vesting. - This is kind of common in a lot of large orgs but a lot of mid to senior level managers are just there because they have maintained good relations with their higher ups. A lot of them don't even know their portfolios and are lost if you ask them anything about their processes. These managers have been spoiling the culture within. - Waves of silent layoffs every now and then so job security is a myth here.

The only Con: To get promotions for level 3 and up you need to develop connections(you can understand). Hard work and talent doesn’t matters here, you need to be a good gossiper or just need to spend time with the hiring managers.

Working at Uber has been one of the best experiences of my career. I joined when Uber was new in Hyderabad, and we built everything from the ground up. During my four-year tenure at Uber, I significantly upskilled and had fantastic opportunities to learn and explore the market. The work-life balance was excellent, and the work culture was outstanding. If given the chance to return to Uber in the future, I would do so without hesitation. Unfortunately, the first wave of COVID-19 had a severe impact on the business market, leading to widespread layoffs. Otherwise, I would have happily continued my journey there.
