There is very little to like about Stripe apart from their salary.

Dislikes

1. Excessive micromanagement and too much bickering about unnecessary reasons. 2. Managers are hired from third party vendor companies and are not skilled enough to handle teams and aid with conflict resolution. 3. There is zero job security. Several lay-offs have been conducted in the name of “poor performance”. To top it all, severance pay was not provided. There is no mention of this hire and fire culture in the contract. 4. Senior Analyst level positions are misrepresented at the time of hiring. Once you begin your work, your job role will be downscaled. 5. No Work from home allowed even in cases of valid medical reasons. 6. Very very very poor appraisal margins. You will be hired at a pay above the market value of your role only to get 2-5% appraisals in the next 2-5 years. 7. Typical managers that do not weigh efficiency in the form of output but, in the amount of hours you clock in at work. A person meeting 80% of the targets in 12 hours is recognized more than a person meeting 110% of the targets in 9 hours. I have successfully wasted one complete year here and these are collective reviews from the following departments: Tax Jar, AutoFile, People Ops, People Support, Financial Crime, Product Support and User Operations. The year 2024 has hence, seen a significant amount of attrition.

Likes

The food coupons benefit is good. The documentation quality is good. Work is less structured.

Dislikes

There is no job security. Lot of indecision in the company, change of direction, poor decision making, immature leadership, highly political environment, people have a lot of time to snitch and bicker behind back. Lack of trust and treatment of teams in India like a slave / third party vendor. Teams at onshore feel that they are kings and try to rule over everyone in India. Lack of basic respect.
