In my appraisal meeting, they didn’t ask or discuss my expectations about my salary or hike percentage. The entire discussion was only about feedback and performance review. After the meeting, I asked why they didn’t allow me to share my expectations or reveal my hike numbers. They told me that the hike numbers would be decided only by the owner and then they would inform me. Politics. Hire-fire. Incompetent non-tech QA guys fill the leadership positions in India HQ, the cult hence formed is not very healthy for talented curious creative engineers. Please the bosses & do as told. Don't discuss, don't experiment, don't advise (much). If you feel suffocated as a techie, just leave. No point fighting, no point trying to prove yourself. Chances are they already have handle 20 others like you before you. They know "you are talented in tech" and they know "how to keep the talented techies under their thumbs". Master non-tech politicians at work here.
