The day I found out my colleague earns 30% more for the same role
It was an accidental slip. A teammate mentioned her CTC while we were chatting casually. Same designation, same team, joined after me but her salary was almost 30% more. My stomach dropped. I spent days debating whether to bring it up. I didn’t want to come off as insecure or difficult. But I also couldn’t un-know what I knew. Eventually, I had an honest, data-backed conversation with my manager. Turns out, I was right and they revised my pay. It wasn’t easy, but it taught me this: silence doesn’t protect you. Companies run on numbers. If you don’t negotiate, you leave money on the table. Have you ever been in a similar spot? How did you navigate it?

Dislikes

- Work culture is toxic. - Expected to work overtime as work allocated is more than what should be and timelines are scrunched. Expect to work on weekends even for months straight, expect working late hours. - Toxic management. More than 70 percent employees leave the workplace within 1 year of joining. - CXOs lack knowledge of technology or project and resources management. - CEO would rather have every employee leave the organisation than fire that one manager because of whom everyone wants to leave. - There are two managers in projects and product, one of them is highly toxic. Almost everyone leaves company because of them. They give unrealistic timelines to clients, set unrealistic goals, does not know how to manage team or work, have 0 team building skills, in fact gossips of one's team in front of whole office. - CXOs have very little knowledge of technology, they base their company on AI but their AI but actually use a lot of manual processes and code based on simple logic, there is not actual AI used. - Since people leave alot, they are almost no experienced people in tech and business intelligence which causes a lot of bugs and issues in apps, reports and no deep insights into the business. - You will learn almost nothing here. You can learn more online. You won't be able to get a nice job after working here because you won't be able to develop any skill set. - People often leave the organisation because the toxic environment, work pressure and office politics which ultimately causes anxiety, depression and panic attacks. - It's better to work at other startups where you can learn more and develop a great skill set which will help you get a better job afterwards even if it means working for less salary.
