A central government organization reaching to remote areas with all its services including health services due to by default nature of its infrastructure. It has great potential to bring developmental work for remote areas where purely commercial companies hesitate to venture.

Dislikes

Government should study the work culture with help of facts and figure and verify the total salary expenditure on its permanent employees and percentage of work coming from them or contract employees which may be adequately paid to substitute for others work. Afterall subcontract spending government money should be deemed illegal as long as their is no job security.

I was fortunate to be associated with Chakradharpur Division of South Eastern Railway. However the job of Station Manager in Chakradharpur Division is far far from satisfactory due the fact that 75% of stations are either in far flung malaria infested jungle stations or small road side stations with poor or no connectivity and social setup to facilitate living with family. What ever u earn is wasted in maintaining double establishment and for medical expenses. Unfortunately after 35 years of my joining S E. Railway there is very little improvement in standard of stations. Staff and officers are however helping and considerate.

Dislikes

Work pressure is high . compensation is not commensurate with risk involved in the job. Commands high public esteem. Career growth is limited.
