No Salary Discussion in My Appraisal — What’s Your Experience?
In my appraisal meeting, they didn’t ask or discuss my expectations about my salary or hike percentage. The entire discussion was only about feedback and performance review. After the meeting, I asked why they didn’t allow me to share my expectations or reveal my hike numbers. They told me that the hike numbers would be decided only by the owner and then they would inform me. I feel an appraisal meeting should include open discussion about both performance and future expectations. What are your thoughts? Does this happen in your company too?

...si (HR): Claims to have 7 years of experience but can’t calculate pay correctly. Her “sandwich policy” means if you take Friday and Monday off, your salary for the weekend gets cut too. So-Called Manager: No clue what he's managing—probably office lights and the Wi-Fi. Communicates only verbally and forgets what he said. Micromanages and expects deliveries within hours. Company Values Forget about work-life balance—it’s work-work balance here. Daily hours stretch from 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM (or longer). You’ll be treated like a machine, not a human. And don't trust ratings on AmbitionBox or Glassdoor—most were written under pressure by support staff. Real Stories Someone fixed a six-month-old bug causing 17% data loss—no recognition. On another day, 3 people from a 25-member tech team resigned together. That should say enough. A developer once left at 8:30 PM—manager got upset, dug up his phone number from the resume, and passed it to others to track him down. Policies & Benefits No weekday work-from-home, but they expect you to work from home on weekends. “Loss of Pay” if you come late, even if you work 9 hours. Probation for 6 months, but if you leave in the first month, no pay. No testers, no proper regression testing. Food? Four slices of bread for 150 people. What to Do If You’re Already There Just leave. Check their average employee tenure on LinkedIn—0.8 years. Most people quit within 5 months, even without another offer. Reach out to ex-employees for honest advice. Don’t fall into their trap.
