There is very little to dislike PGI but wish the salaries should be bit more like top corporate hospitals

It is a famous institute in north India and is a pretty good hospital.

... spite of the institute taking a 5% administrative charge on all research funds. There are a large number of projects where only the researcher's salary is available but there is no contingency or separate fund for research work. I am not counting the 20K per year which is provided as contingency to independent fellows. That little money can only fund light computational research. This situation has gotten much worse in the last 3-4 years since the institute has tried to "go digital". Good luck finding the transaction ID by which your funds came or proving that the funds are in fact meant for you. Earlier every one would receive individual cheques but now several fellows may receive funds in a single transfer from funding agencies. Yes, there are simple solutions, but even simple solutions are impossible without basic cooperation. EXCEPTION: This is a good place for clinical research if you can design one where funds are not needed. Maybe get collaborators to analyze samples. If you are interested in research, go to a proper research institute, not one where it is just a footnote. DONOT get registered in a PhD program here. Earn experience in fellowship and go to a proper research institute. If things improve in future, I will try and update.

Its a premiere institute in the field of health care. Work culture in lower level they really work hard.. But the support from higher level towards other staff is very poor.. Otherwise this institute really work fantastic..
