Remote working is the only good thing about the company.

Dislikes

The manager is biased and so obsessed with micro management (she even wants to know the private conversations between colleagues and yeah there is high chance your colleague will disclose your candid discussion with the manager.) There's no job security as employees may be laid off in bulk without any notice. The company has no vision and the work culture is toxic. The targets are too high and irrational and the manager will enforce this at the behest of the CEO. The management will try to create the impression that it is a great company with high revenues, but it's a low-budget company dependent on the website traffic. Most of the employees stay in the company just because of the comfort of remote working and the senior editors seem to have no plans to leave the company because they are so stuck in the loop and enjoy harassing writers by sending back copies for trivial reasons and giving negative feedbacks if they don't entertain their ego. Don't even think about career growth or promotion unless you are too good at appeasing the manager.

Micromanagement is the motto here. I got selected in a bulk hiring, after joining just within two days, the initial team lead started questioning my availability because I was not available during "lunch hour". Then, after two weeks, I got shifted to another team, where the tram lead worked for more than 12 hours a day and expected me to do the same. It was an 9-6 shift, but again I got written up by the management several times because I refused to not pickup any kind of call after that time (Mind you, the team lead and the senior editors used to call/text at 7pm and even at 11pm at night). It was clearly stated in the contract that it was a remote job, and I hope the remote setting means I can work from wherever I want as long as I am available during mu work hours and my daily tasks are being completed on time. But no, one HAD to be in their home otherwise you will get written up. The team leads will discuss your work with each and everyone but you, until they can point out something valid. I spent my time more in meetings than actually working, and then had to do overtime because i was attending two-three meetings for the same cause - one with manager and one again with my team lead. Individual perspectives are irrelevant here. Every other editor has their own way of criticising and you will never know which editor will get your copies to check, but be sure that you will have to do the same work double even several times because that particular editor did not like the style of writing or did not like the creativity you put in. Yep, that sums up my experience there.

The management at MomJunction has become worse over the period of time. The manager keeps competing with the manager of StyleCraze thereby increasing the work load unreasonably. She does not treat all the editors equally and shows favoritism towards those who have bigger teams. Writers who leave the firm are not replaced and editors are forced to produce the same output with the remaining team which adversely affects the mental well-being of the team. She expects high quality work in less time and is only after targets. As an editor, it's pathetic to see work quality suffering day after day due to someone's lack of empathy. Hope the management notices all these gray areas and things are addressed ASAP!

The work culture at this organisation actually depends on the team you are placed in. The work culture is pathetic as they pay less and expect you to work for xx number of hours including weekends. The leadership is micro management. There is no process and the leadership person will expect you to work their way out
