No Salary Discussion in My Appraisal — What’s Your Experience?

In my appraisal meeting, they didn’t ask or discuss my expectations about my salary or hike percentage. The entire discussion was only about feedback and performance review. After the meeting, I asked why they didn’t allow me to share my expectations or reveal my hike numbers. They told me that the hike numbers would be decided only by the owner and then they would inform me. I feel an appraisal meeting should include open discussion about both performance and future expectations. What are your thoughts? Does this happen in your company too?

Some people are really supportive.. and are willing to extend their knowledge.. My plant head was really supportive but due to internal politics,he was fired in one day...same happened with other skilled people too...One lady from HR is really supportive and goes to any extent to solve your issue..

Dislikes

Politics is above than average...HR rules are so hectic and looks like applied for cost cutting rather than for discipline.... People who are with the company from many years are not ready to see new comers achieving progress..Lack of system and clarity in work... management keeps changing its decision frequently... people expect you to stay late so ultimately it affects your work life balance..If you are an experience holder you'll not grow here...Best department to work here is dispatch and the worst is PPC....This is my point of view..you may disagree..
