The organization provides rich learning experience to work as a professional. The exposure to varied activities of Government makes an employee perfect fit to any type of job. The audits cover from small Government office to Navaratna PSUs and from various tax and non tax revenue to expenditure on various revenue earning or social service projects. The work environment enhances thinking ability. There is good bonding among office members and every one supports others like family members. The organization provides timely training to update the knowledge of staff.

Dislikes

...dit & Accounts Department is the family like atmosphere maintained by employees. The pay package is good as it is covered under Central Government pay scale. The job is secure just like any other Central Government department. However, promotion prospects are not attractive.

Likes

It is a highly professional set up. The audit reports are highly qualitative in nature. It helps in a big way the union and state governments to correct their mistakes. It helps public exchequer in revenue augmentations by pointing out shortfall in receipts. It is a friend philosopher and guide to governments and people' s representatives in parliament and legislatures. It's reports are un-biased. It is a supreme audit institution. It oversees the performance of CAs who conduct PSU audit and points out their mistakes.

This Department works under Comptroller & Auditor General of India and performs duties and powers envisaged in DPC Act 1971, amended from time to time and in consonance with Article 148 of constitution of India. It works as watchdog over the receipts and expenditure and maintains accounts of state/union territory as agreed upon in consultations with C & AG. It has been bifurcated in two parts , one dealing with Audit and other performing Entitlement functions popularly known as A&E wing. Entitlement functions include authorization of pensionary benefits, maintenance of GPF a/c and Departmental compilation of accounts. The deptt is open to innovation and adopts latest technology. This is purely a teamwork and I enjoyed working in various fields including audit of treasuries in state of J&K

Dislikes

I worked mostly in supervisory capacity since Jan 1993. The state of J&K is prone to militancy and one has to face so many problems like shortage of staff, pausiity of funds and lack of adequate security especially while tour for audit of treasuries.

It is very pleasure in working in the department. We would be privileged to work in the deparent as a represenrative of the government as we are entrusted with the duty of accounts and audit of the government accounts. We are responsible for submitting accounts of the government in the legislature and parliament
