You get to travel a lot and meet amazing people from all around the world. Also if you're working hard you can climb that positions ladder quite fast. It's all up to your performance.

Pay is small, and the job really kills you mentally and physically. No one cares about your well-being on board. You're discardable if you break. And conditions are hard, sooner or later they will break you.
