It's easy to criticize consumer internet startups in India
I came across a news piece where Zepto CEO Aadit Palicha replied to people who criticize consumer internet startups. He shared an important point, companies like Zepto, Blinkit, and Swiggy have created 15 lakh jobs. I thought we often associate innovation strictly with core tech breakthroughs. But in a country like India, where job creation and accessibility are just as important, scaling a business model that supports lakhs of livelihoods is innovation. What are your thoughts? Does creating employment count as innovation in today’s India?

Nothing, earlier the work culture was pretty good but sine the merger with Zomato happened, Zomato's culture has taken over in all the departments and it's completely disappointing now.

The internal politics, peanuts in increments, no diwali bonus, HRs won't give a damn about your issues. Everything about the work culture at Zomato & Blinkit in the social media is a myth or lie being spread.

Lot of pressure in every terms....you have to manage the store (in and out) all alone so you can imagine the amount of pressure. No work life balance, 9 hrs shift is hectic AF that you can't get your break time most of the time..... overall less pay and hetic work.

Dislikes

.... You'll end up working on all the major festivals when everyone is celebrating. Salary and promotions are negligible for people who have joined in the recent times because of the presuure of profitability. The older folks are minting money unlike any other organisation.

There are plenty of points which I disliked - No clarity of KRA and Roles, No regular review of your KRA, No job security, HR department have no authority, No ethics , No compliance to Govt. Rules and regulations, Hire and fire environment, OTT platform language is used in head office even by top management, They will give you ESOP's with one year Vesting and they will start targeting you sooner you come close to it on vesting so that you leave job and go away. That is why attrition is too high. The less capable are judging the more capable just because they have strong relationships with senior ones.
