No Salary Discussion in My Appraisal — What’s Your Experience?

In my appraisal meeting, they didn’t ask or discuss my expectations about my salary or hike percentage. The entire discussion was only about feedback and performance review. After the meeting, I asked why they didn’t allow me to share my expectations or reveal my hike numbers. They told me that the hike numbers would be decided only by the owner and then they would inform me. I feel an appraisal meeting should include open discussion about both performance and future expectations. What are your thoughts? Does this happen in your company too?

The first and foremost thing that AR 29 has an upper hand in is the culture, how everyone is connected with each other and how closely everyone works, multiple people are ready to help from the practice if there are some hurdles in ongoing project for any employee, and the collective experience that seniors hold makes it possible to go over these hurdles. Promotion and hikes are well defined and managed, with all this they give their client absolute guarantee to deliver which sometimes make work hours longer, but I have done that, and when tough times come, people don't hesitate giving more time than necessary as when we need time for ourselves, they provide with utmost respect.
