No growth opportunity for Engineers who are continued from PSU era . I joined as GET in 1986 after clearing all India level exam & interview . I held responsible position like SBU Head , operation Head & Plant Head after take over by Sterlite . While considering for promotion only guys with Sterlite brand got advantage without any core competency. There is no transparency in administration regarding promotion & other benefits . 1.) Timely Salary 2.) Medical cover to dependant parents 3.) Flexible leaves combinations 4.) Safety focus ( almost suffocating now though as people to implement not there,resources take a lot of time etc )

Poor, Insecure, Completely Immature & Incompetent people at leadership positions especially at Unit head & department head level, mostly take things personally & accordingly immature behaviours & this alone will affect all other mentioned factors in the review below.No action against poor manager feedback, just for namesake. 2.)Poor HR appraisal policies, majority needs to get C grades which repurcates into minimal increments,barely any annual bonus & in HZL salary structure that could mean an amount almost 30-50% of fixed salary, No new esops , not to mention previous esops become void too... 3.) Lot of incentives ,over & above salary but only selected favored get all the extra favours ,all the time.Rampant nepotism & favouritism.People at the same designation level may have upto 200% difference in salaries or earnings. 4.)Too much of paperwork & ppt's with too less people in department, overloads & distracts everyone.Mostly in name of safety, but nobody accepts or follows practical approach. 5.)No experienced person left in the middle hierarchy ( 8-10 yrs) to share workload now..One needs to cater to work from the shift incharge level to the needs & demand at the business head level. No aftermarket recruitment in yhis range..just GETs, everytime who get the feel of this culture & leave in a year. 6.)Zero job security, Poor mutual respect & missing trust in the culture.If you age beyond 40 , no incentives,then probably better to leave this company or be prepared to get sudden forced retirements or serve below your juniors.Thought process from the top is with increased stability , people dont perform.Probably the only company where retention is not promoted & experience negates your intrinsic value. All in all, Due to such trust, respect & stability deficient culture even none of the employees have a single good opinion of the company & hence not at all a company worthy to stay for long, It will spoil your outlook mindset of mutual trust & cooperation ending up in continuous stress which will surely manifest into getting medical issues or low self esteem here for sure. *Since you'll be living at a remote location so it has its own perks like you save a lot of your salary. *Job security will also be good at this place since most of the people working here leave their jobs and the people left here keep on trying for new jobs, so if you stay here there won't be probably anyone who'll try to remove you from the job so in terms of job security? Yes the job is good.

Nothing about the job is likeable here starting on with- * Work life balance will be completely destroyed, if you come in shifts there will always be multiple shift changes in a single week in the beginning it will be Ok but as time passes it will be very difficult, or if you get an office job again office culture is toxic so in 8amto 5pm shift, you can't get out of the office before 6:30pm, its a part of the culture. * If you are coming as an engineer and trying to learn new things to grow yourself in your career, sorry you will only get to learn those things that are necessary to run the plant and if you try to learn more your seniors will oppose you, your managers won't support you and force you to focus on the plant based activities only. * If you are enthusiastic in your career and work hard to get promotions, sorry you won't get any of it, yes you'll get promotions if you'll say everything yes to your boss, even if he does something wrong or the things that you don't like you have to support him otherwise you won't be promoted. *Remote job location- you'll need to live near mines that are in most cases(70%) situated in villages, i am also posted at village location, so no quick food service/supermarket/chill zones, (yess amazon/flipkart deliver their products here) *Couple unfriendly - since you're living in a village are you are in relationship with someone but not married then you'll be heavily judged here by everyone, not only villagers but your own company people, since couples don't get combined accomodations here(only if you're married then you can get combined palce to live). * The leaders that you're working under are also talentless they don't know things beyod their workplace, majority of the people can't even communicate in English and yes I am talking about engineers here(most of them are from local colleges so if you're from a prestigious college like IIT/NIT/IIMs you will have to work under literally illiterate people). * Job satisfaction will always be missing in your life, since here you'll have 6 days working and one week-off, so even if you want to go to nearby city and chill sometime, you'll have to take your paid leaves....Read More
