EDCONS is name of another horrible company of Kolkata. Although the company has Internal Complaint Committee (ICC), celebrates International Womens' Day, provides car facility to the female staffs from CIT Point & Bypass Dhaba but the female staffs are not safe in this company. On October-November, 2023 so many female staffs left this company in a protest of a molestation incident and fearing for their self respect. Also knowing the incident, the ICC remained silent and the management forced the victim to resign. The human resource department is so terrific. The HRs are ignorant of the industry. They appoint the merchandisers by measuring the beauty, appeal, show-off, over smartness and body flexibility. Only few of my colleagues who are also trying leave this pathetic company.

People are leaving this company everyday. In my just 1 year of tenure I saw around 30 people left. Its like every 6 months the whole team changes as nobody can stay in such a downgrading company. Even the clients understands how demeaning is the owner. This company is an absolute nightmare to work for, and it all boils down to the owner, who is the worst person you could ever imagine. He tries hard to maintain a good face in front of others, but it doesn’t take long after working with him to see how truly pathetic he is as a person. Honestly, even an animal would be a better fit to lead. The owner’s behavior is beyond erratic—constantly changing his mind and creating chaos. His ego takes over when an employee tries to leave and move on, making their life miserable. He forces employees to send fake, flattering emails about the company and uses legal threats to intimidate those trying to escape. He expects employees to work endlessly without regard for their well-being. His behavior becomes utterly atrocious whenever someone attempts to leave his horrible company. It is a good company for freshers only. A fresher or junior can learn very well ( at the price of mental peace but I'll let it slide because of experience and knowledge) If you're looking for senior position, they might have you on board and fire you at any point of time.

Dislikes

Biased towards selective employees. Poor appraisal. They keep saying to take legal step if an employee serves less than 2 months notice period but on the other hand they lay off employees as their will without any notice period. They keep misbehaving unless you quit. They talk rubbish behind your back and in the industry when you quit.

Good for learning. Benefits are too good in comparison to other export houses. They even provide a pick & drop facility for female employees.

Dislikes

Very poor work life balance. Management is horrible. Very partial & biased hierarchy. Job security is zero.
