My experience as an assistant manager internal audit at Dr. Lal PathLabs was frustrating, especially due to office politics, a lack of structured learning, and unclear expectations. The culture seems to favor those who impress leadership through backbiting rather than genuine performance, which creates a toxic work environment. The OEP program, which should ideally improve audit quality, appears ineffective because lab admins don’t actively perform their duties, leading to unfair blame on the internal auditors. Additionally, the audit head seems more focused on criticizing reports than providing constructive guidance, making the process inefficient and demotivating. The lack of a clear review structure, with responsibilities shifting between the Deputy Manager and the Audit Head, only adds to the confusion. Overall, it seems like a place where internal audit isn't valued properly, and the blame game is stronger than the learning curve. No wonder you wanted to move on! There is no scope for promotion at Dr. Lal PathLabs, as the Audit Head deliberately creates chaos to avoid promoting anyone. The past track record speaks for itself—two employees left after being denied promotions despite being eligible. Additionally, the lack of clarity in job responsibilities has led to two more employees quitting within just six months.
