The department is buffer between govt and district offices. A lot of information both on Statistics and Economic survey are confucted and the vital information is passed on to Goverment from time to time. Statistics such as crop yield, prices, irrigation sources, area under yield crop patterns, rain fall, prices, Socio Economic behaviour, environmental statistics, random sample surveys., etc. The department plays a very vital role in Goverment formulation of Economic Planning.
