There is a lot of politics and the management doesn’t address our issues. Salary is decent but career growth is slow. There is a bond of 2 years before which you cannot resign. On the job training is not given to new joinees.

The job is quite interesting! I struggled a bit in the beginning as there was no formal training session. I learnt everything on the job. I got a chance to wear multiple hats and that helped me get a taste of different roles within the same team.

CPWD is the organisation of engineers. Engineers not following the rules and regulations as such there controlling rests with Engineers and kept sweet corner in comparison of non technical staff. Non technical staff working under pressure of technical staff and they are not aware about the rule regulations. My suggestion not to keepthe enginnering staff in administrative wing. It is a government department and excellent in public building construction. the quality of building constructed by CPWD is very good. It's engineers are dedicated to their work.

Dislikes

The department organization is not good. No sufficient promotions for engineers recruited through SCC and grade of these engineers is very low as compare to various state government organizations. hence no motivation for engineers.

CPWD is the concern department under Urban Development of Central Govt. of India. There are various projects for construction of buildings, Electrical works, Road & bridges and many more. The works both in field and officially performed well under specification and rules as per CPWD norms followed by the concern officials of CPWD. CPWD is too good for permanent or regular employees but not for contractual or temporary employees like us. Usually the regular staffs get benefits like CL, EL, LTC, Medical etc along with the 7th pay scheduled with DA and other allowances in salary that makes satisfactory financial supports with significantly job security. But, we the daily basis contractual employees get only the basic wages according to the approved labour rate of CLC for 26 or 29 or 30 days basis in a month. No any other benefits like CL, Medical not provided to us. We fill quit separated from regular employees accordingly to their behavior, whereas having good educational qualification and communication skills. Because of not having Govt. secured job and not conscious about to avail Govt job sectors. Sometimes lots of working pressure have to handle and done with direction of higher officials without any good appreciations afterall receive only regrets. Office is open even on holidays The mood of the seniors is not good, the work load is very high and always goes away. Even after doing any work, the senior is not satisfied and keeps correcting every document again and again.
