Only thing I liked about the Institute is my department colleagues who were supportive, outspolken and generous. If it is not for them, I would not have survived more than a month

- If you are not a local person, you will never have sufficient leaves to go back to your hometown. - If you are taking any leave, you need to rearrange your classes with someone else (this is too strict that even a death of your close family member will not be an exception for a common new faculty [this actually happened], but thisis not applicable to some senior faculties) - Weekly work hours are too much for the salary they pay - Here there is an unorthodox way of holiday, that is, Sunday and Wednesday for students. So the faculties will not have classes on these days. Earlier it was Saturday and Sunday like usual. But this has changed because many faculties take CLs on Saturday to visit their home town(I don't know why it is wrong, but they said so in the meeting) and in order to prevent, they changed it. - If you are resigning(believe me, you will resign within a year if you join), you need to pay your three months salary or three months notice. Suppose if you do work in your notice period, you will not get salary in those period and you will be treated in a worst manner while getting back your certificates, which was taken for verification from you when you joined(of course they will not returned until you leave), from the HR office. - There is no standard guidelines for anything. Even in faculty orientation, they say that for any doubts and conflicts ask the senior faculties in your department. Every department have their own culture which will get conflicts when it comes to maintaining NAAC and DAAC related documents and there is no standard format. They will keep on changing the format every year and they will send a new format in emails (which you will get on average 10 emails a day) and WhatsApp groups (you will be in at least 5 groups)....Read More

In AMRITA, Working culture is too good and faculty policy has been introduced recently that really improve the effective teaching learning process. Management is really concerned about faculty members. It seems good environment every where inside campus.

Dislikes

Fine. There are few things really uncomfortable to us. First one is, Pay scale is not up to central Institutes like NIT and IITs (But expecting to work on par with national institutes). Even our management didn't impose 7th Pay Scale. Second one is, regarding promotion, its only biased not on the basis of performance and eligibility. Other wise, its really good Institute.

The University forgot to update NAAC data and re-apply for accreditation during the year 2019-2020, but somehow managed to get accreditation in the year 2021. The years 2019-2020 remain a hidden mystery. Does not follow or stick to proper HR policy. Does not communicate about changes in policies to employees. People without prior teaching experience/ without NET/ without PhD are recruited internally for teaching posts....Read More

Amrita Centre for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine is a really bad work environment. This Centre is running without any proper management structure.

Dislikes

Unethical director encourages faculty and students for unethical research conduct. Simply waste government funding in a name of research.
