In my opinion it is the best possible profession for a job seeker. There can not be any better organisation which can give you satisfaction in all walks of life. It gives ample opportunities to hard working and innovative thinkers. It teaches one the best possible lessons on HR and Management. In Army you get an opportunity to be a leader, a teacher, a pupil, a student, a mentor, a socialist, a welfare officer, an advocate, a judge. I would say you name a trade and Army provides one an opportunity to work in it. The best part is you come across people from all possible corners of the country and all possible cultures. The experience one gains out of this needs no explanation. Army also provides enough opportunities to travel and work abroad, exposes one to latest technologies, adventure, managing disasters etc. To sum up I can only say given another opportunity I will again join Army and would like to serve till my last breath.

Dislikes

Compensation though is decent but in comparison to bureaucrats it is quite less. Biggest problem is slower promotions and stagnation. The systematic downgrading of status of defense forces is also demoralizing

Army is a workplace where your competence and merit is always recognised and suitably rewarded. Enhancement of professional skills in Technical and non technical fields of your choices , super specialisation and specialised training in foreign countries are all free .Free outdoor and indoor sports , adventure sports and pursuing one's hobbies are all available at best standards one can think of .Army is a workplace where you get what you deserve . Innovation is key to success of Army and the process is ongoing to meet emerging global challenges of threat , security , technology and human resource . Army provides abundant opportunities for free travel all over India and abroad . Army life routine is perfectly balanced right throughout with the day starting with physical fitness regime followed by office and training regimen and then sports activities in afternoon with a very enjoyable social activities . In short Army transforms the entire all round personality of a person with balanced development of mental and physical faculties . It offers everything one can expect in work field and work-life field.

Dislikes

There is nothing I disliked about Army except that you retire little early but by then you acquire so much experience and knowledge that you get ample job opportunities to pursue another job of your choice in civil .

I was working in Indian Army for the last 31 years (which is part of Ministry of Defence ) years in one of the best armies of the world where I learnt to be an accomplished and focussed professional with rich and extensive experience in administration,leadership,security,logistics,training and personnel management and retired in the rank of Colonel.During my service I travelled all over the country This is very fine organisation where I fine tuned my skills, I met people from all walks of life during service and learnt a lot

salary is very good but there is lack of growth

To be an Indian Army officer is not a job but its like a great life style with a lot of happiness, learning and camaraderie among officers and soldiers. The environment is apolitical, healthy and enriched with ethos and pleasant memories.

Autocratic and hegemonic attitudes. Average monetary compensation.
