New Climate Economy Project

The New Climate Economy Project brings together expert research institutes from five continents, overseen by an International Council comprising former heads of government and finance ministers and leaders in the fields of economics, business and finance. Reporting in September 2014, the project will make recommendations on the policies that can simultaneously deliver better economic growth and address the risks posed by climate change. The New Climate Economy research program is grounded in the continuing need for growth and development in the world today. It focuses on how to achieve core economic objectives – growth, investment, employment, stable public finances, poverty reduction and income distribution – in the context of increased climate risk. It examines how these goals can be integrated with the achievement of wider development priorities, such as food security, energy access, urban planning, sustainable land use, natural resource efficiency, and cleaner air and water.
