In this modern world where fabrications are sometimes the real thing, Fabrinet makes optical, electrical, and electro-mechanic components and assemblies on a contract basis. Its optical components include switches, transponders and transceivers, and cables. Other products include industrial lasers and sensors. Fabrinet's engineering team also provides design, testing, and regulatory support while other groups offer packaging, including hermetic sealing, and laser welding. It has plants in Thailand, China, and the US serving OEMs in the optical communications, medical, and automotive markets. The company was formed in 2000 through the purchase of a Seagate Technology plant in Thailand; it went public in 2009.
