Energy Transfer Partners transfers energy (in the form of natural gas, natural gas liquids (NGLs) across the US. The company operates more than 7,700 miles of intrastate natural gas gathering and transmission pipelines, and about 2,875 miles of interstate pipelines, and related storage assets. Energy Transfer Partners also operates 7,000 miles of gas gathering pipelines, three gas processing plants and almost 30 gas treating facilities. In 2012, to raise cash to invest in its natural gas operations, the company sold its propane business (570 million gallons of propane a year to more than 1 million customers through 440 retail outlets in 40 states) to AmeriGas for $2.9 billion.
