Job Description

The Marine Crew Data Analyst will focus on managing and analysing data related to marine crew operations, financial and budgeting performance. This role will deliver data - driven insights, supporting the decision making towards optimising resources and enhance operational efficiency and cost-effective crew management.
Key responsibilities and primary deliverables
Crew Analysis, Data Management and Resource Reporting
  • Digitally Create agreed Dashboards/KPI visualization using the existing company platform to support the business in achieving excellence and efficiency in crew management.
  • Work and collaborate closely with peers to ensure alignment on data strategies and support category management goals.
  • Identify business improvements through excellent analytical and modelling skills and thorough analysis of trends and developments. Automation/digitalization of existing reports and reports that will be required in the future that adds value to the business.
  • Work with the business to develop KPI s relevant to drive the company s strategy and goals
  • Collect, analyse, and report on various crew data points which are most relevant for the business and required to drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor, audit and support data quality, validate and clean.
  • Deliver weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports Crewing Reports.

Financial Analysis and Budgeting
  • Manage annual budgeting and cost control for crew-related expenses, including payroll, benefits, and travel
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Partner with finance teams to ensure accurate and transparent accounting and financial reporting for crew costs worldwide.

Problem Solving
  • Proactively and independently uses a variety of tools and methods to identify, analyse and understand the area of improvement and discussing with colleagues accordingly.
  • Support in solving problems, making recommendations, and applying own subject matter expert knowledge.
  • Process Development - takes existing processes and implements enhancement solutions, improving efficiency, control, visibility and insight.
  • Works with business users and evaluates business benefits and knock-on effects of proposed change.
  • Take ownership of agreed solutions and puts these into practice in line with expectations, following through to completion.
  • Supports performance discussions by demonstrating awareness of risks and opportunities.
Continuous Improvement
  • Stay well informed with data analysis advancement to continue in providing reliable support to the business.
  • Conduct regular reviews of existing reports to ensure relevance in driving improvements in the business.
  • Working with peers to identify system developments and initiatives that will improve the accuracy and automation of the end user requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Excellent skills in presenting the finding to the business and ability to work with the business to identify specific actions to drive improved performance.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure appropriateness of both data and method access.
  • Support end users in the provisions of self-service reporting and dashboarding, working with them to ensure ongoing development and training is in place.
Required technical skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically excel).
  • Excellent proven/hands on experience in BI system and data analytics (Power BI, Tableau, SQL and other analytical tools) to support Global Crew Management, reporting, digitalization and automation.
  • Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles, especially in budgeting, cost management, and reporting.
Skill Profile & Qualifications
  • Strong academic record and relevant qualifications in relation to business analytics.
  • Minimum 5 yrs experience in a shore-based position in data analytics position preferably within the shipping industry.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communications skills and ability to maintain a strong relationship across the business units and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent level of analytical skills and strategic forward thinking with reasoning and judgement.
  • Professionalism and trustworthy
  • High drive and self-driven to delivery consistent performance (Can do attitude) with a sense of urgency, high energy and enthusiasm.
  • Takes ownership with high level of accountability
  • Takes initiative, proactive and with open mind to change.
  • Adaptable to change to the match the demands of existing situation.
