Job Duties
Design & Drafting:
Analyze mechanical specifications and requirements to design appropriate equipment for burner systems and combustion-relate applications.
Assist the engineering team in confirming equipment selection and design, ensuring all designs meet customer and project needs.
Prepare various types of technical drawings, including parts, assemblies, and products. This includes creating views, sectional profiles, and intricate details required for fabrication.
Utilize Autodesk Inventor for both 2D and 3D design work, creating and maintaining parametric part/assembly models.
Use i-Logic programming to develop efficient and reusable designs for assemblies and components.
Assignments will include making arithmetic computations using standard formulas and applying them in design work.
Review customer mark-up prints and assist with disposition of design comments to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with project engineers to ensure all required drawings are completed accurately and on time.
Assist the engineering team in confirming that the designs are in line with project goals, timelines, and client expectations.
Participate in shop visits to assist with design changes, resolve issues, and support shop personnel with guidelines for production.
Provide guidance to other designers and check the accuracy of their work to ensure high standards of quality.
Documentation & Software Use:
Maintain and manage design documentation, including BOMs, drawings, and specifications, ensuring all records are up-to-date and easily accessible.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Adobe) and other web-based systems for design-related tasks.
Educational Background
Associate s Degree in Drafting or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
5+ years of drafting and design experience using Autodesk Inventor, with a strong understanding of parametric systems and smart BOMs.
Experience in implementing and maintaining parametric drawing systems with intelligent BOMs.
General knowledge of i-Logic programming and creating i-parts, i-assemblies, and derived parts.
Familiarity with ASME B31.1 and B31.3 codes for pressure piping is a plus.
Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (both 2D and 3D) and other CAD software.
Knowledge of mechanical design, fabrication processes, and manufacturing techniques.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical specifications, and technical documentation.
Ability to effectively work in a team, collaborate with engineers, and assist in problem-solving.
Additional Skills
Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe for document management and reporting.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all drafting and design tasks.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
