Management Accountant

We are headquartered in Australia and are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our remote team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations, providing critical insights, and working closely with the Directors and Head of Finance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounts Payable Management:

• Process and verify invoices for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Manage vendor accounts, payments, and reconciliations.
• Oversee employee expense reimbursements and ensure timely processing.

2. Financial Analysis and Reporting:

• Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results against budgets and forecasts, and identify key insights for decision-making.
• Prepare detailed financial reports and provide actionable recommendations.
• Analyze financial trends and performance metrics.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Provide financial models and scenario analysis to support strategic planning.

4. Cost Accounting and Treasury:

• Implement and manage cost accounting systems and processes.
• Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions.
• Ensure optimization of financial resources.

5. Audit Preparation and Compliance:

• Collaborate with external auditors, particularly those from global firms, to facilitate audits.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and company policies.

6. Systems and Process Management:

• Maintain and optimize accounting software systems, with experience in Xero preferred.
• Ensure the accurate and up-to-date maintenance of all financial records.
• Leverage technology to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.

7. General Financial Management:

• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Provide insights into profitability, cost management, and risk mitigation.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports as required by management.

Qualifications and Experience

Education and Certifications:

• Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles.
• Audit experience with a global accounting firm is essential.
• Strong experience in treasury functions, cost accounting, variance analysis, and budgeting and forecasting.
• Proven expertise in financial reporting and analysis.
• Familiarity with Australian financial regulations is highly desirable.

Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
• Experience with accounting software; Xero experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.

Other Requirements:

• Available to work 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM AWST (Australian Western Standard Time).
• Reliable high-speed internet connection and uninterrupted power supply.
