Engineer-Electrical Design

WSP India is currently looking for a talented Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and implementation of Electrcial engineering for our AU Mining Infrastructre Projects (Materials Handling Infrastructure). He / She Will also be involved in mentoring and sharing their experience with all team members as well as in training, development and Continuous improvement activities. Previous experience in an EPCM environment in the O & G, Power, Mining processing industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

The Electrcial Design Engineer shall have experience mainly in Electrcial design in Oil & Gas, Power Plants or Metal/Mineral processing plant and will be responsible for the following minimum services:

• Execute the project’s design and testing activities as per the schedule and within the Budget.
• Make recommendations and be involved with important decision making on highly technical and complex aspects of WSP projects.
• Ability to run computer simulation programs as well as in-house engineering spreadsheets.
• Complete feasibility studies and technical report writing.
• Assist Lead engineer in Project management responsibilities include:

• Reporting and scheduling
• Engineering/Design
• Procurement
• Construction Support

• Responsible for reviewing and stamping drawings (as required); using experience in interpreting design codes and regulatory requirements.
• Knowledge and experience of CAD tool 2D, 3D and Navisworks. Basic electrical principals.
• Familiarity with electrical equipment and terminology.
• Familiar with electrical design documents like:

• Area classification
• Single line diagrams
• Distribution panel layout
• Cable and conduit schedule
• Electrical schematics
• Lighting design
• Control panel c/w I/O schematics.
• Junction box layouts
• Process and building electrical and control layout.
• Electrical Heat trace design
• Electrical Bill of Materials
• Familiarity with Australian Electrical Code

• Relevant application software knowledge (ETAP, SKM etc.)
• Experience in electrical engineering with a focus on SLD, P&ID, Panel Design, MCC, Control Logic, and transformer design, understanding of technical details of electrical equipment.

The Electrical Engineer shall have the technical skills and competencies:

• AutoCAD 2D & 3D Design and Drafting along with technical in-depth understanding.
• Relevant experience on Oil & Gas consultation industry, EPC projects will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of IEC & CSA C22 Electrical Codes and standards.
• Understand and Create Calculation spread sheets.
• Experience in preparing the Schematics, SLD, and Electrical Layouts using AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Design and Development of LT & HT switchgear.
• Experience in Cable sizing, Cable tray sizing, Earthing and Bonding.
• Basic knowledge of PLC and SCADA.
• Excellent skill in English verbal and non-verbal communication.
• Strong technical background in electrical Systems for Oil & Gas, Power Plants or Mining/Mineral processing plants.
• Experience in bench and site-based testing and providing operational support services.
• Ability to develop and review P&ID, electrical schematics and Logic Diagrams.
• Ability to review, understand and provide feedback on control systems designs produced by others
• Ability to understand, verify, analyse & implement design modification requests
• Ability to maintain documentation for engineering designs, drawings and technical data as per company procedures/standards.

• Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to accurately predict the time required to complete deliverables.
• Experience in participation in meetings with Client and Contractors

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering is essential. A master’s degree in engineering is advantageous.
• At least 8-12 years proven industry Previous experience in an EPCM environment in the O & G, Power, Mining processing industry is an asset.
• Professional Membership of relevant professional bodies is desirable.
