This role will play a crucial role in guiding the team, designing robust database architectures, establishing efficient processes, and fostering a culture of excellence in database management, work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our databases are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.

Key responsibilities :

Team Leadership :

- Provide visionary leadership and guidance to a team of database engineers. Foster an environment of collaboration, continuous learning, and growth.

- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and mentor team members to help them reach their full potential.

Database Architecture :

- Design and architect scalable and efficient database solutions that meet the organization's current and future needs.

- Collaborate with software development teams to understand requirements and ensure the databases are optimized for performance, reliability, and security.

Process Establishment :

- Define and implement best practices, processes, and standards for database design, development, deployment, and maintenance.

- Streamline workflows to increase efficiency and productivity within the database engineering team.

Performance Optimization :

- Continuously monitor and analyze database performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimizations to enhance query performance, data integrity, and system stability.

Security and Compliance :

- Lead efforts to ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and regulations. Implement and oversee robust security measures, access controls, and encryption protocols to safeguard sensitive data.

Collaboration :

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development, DevOps, and IT, to understand business requirements and align database strategies with organizational goals.

- Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Research and Innovation :

- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in database management.

- Introduce innovative solutions and methodologies to enhance database performance, reliability, and scalability.

Documentation :

- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of database architectures, configurations, processes, and procedures. Ensure that documentation is up-to-date and accessible to team members.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- Proven experience in database engineering, with a strong background in designing, implementing, and optimizing databases.

- Previous experience in a leadership or management role, with a track record of effectively leading and mentoring teams.

- Expertise in database technologies such as SQL Server, good to have - NoSQL, and in-memory databases.

- Strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and data modelling.

- Experience with cloud-based database solutions and DevOps practices.

- Knowledge of data security, compliance, and privacy regulations.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide innovative solutions.
