The project titled Integrated Water Resource and Quality Management Program in Andhra Pradesh aims at addressing the challenges of water scarcity, drought, and water quality in 4 districts (Prakasam, Alluri Sitaramaraju (ASR), Anakapalli, and NTR) districts in Andhra Pradesh. Implemented by the Vijayavahini Charitable Foundation(VCF), supported by Tata Trusts, the program seeks to implement sustainable water management solutions that can significantly enhance the quality of life for underserved communities across these four districts of the state.
1. Water quality and management in NTR (Mylavaram and Reddigudem), Anakapalli(Chodavaram) and ASR (Chintapalle and Rajavommangi) for 1-year duration.
2. Water security project in Prakasam (Yarragondapalem and Pullalacheruvu) for 3 Years duration.
Brief Job Description:
1 Conduct needs assessments and baseline surveys to identify target groups and key messages to be communicated.
2 Develop creative and culturally appropriate IEC materials such as posters, brochures, radio messages, videos, and social media content.
3 Design and develop comprehensive IEC strategies for promoting awareness and behavior change in areas such as sanitation, hygiene, water management, health, and environmental conservation.
4 Ensure that all communication materials are culturally relevant, linguistically accessible, and inclusive of gender-sensitive perspectives.
5 Plan and execute IEC campaigns in coordination with project teams, community members, and local authorities
6 Organize community-level events, workshops, and outreach activities to disseminate information and raise awareness on key issues.
7 Develop partnerships with local media outlets (radio, newspapers, TV, etc.) to broadcast IEC campaigns.
8 Facilitate capacity-building workshops to strengthen local communication efforts and promote behavior change.
9 Leverage digital platforms such as social media, websites, and mobile apps to extend the reach of IEC campaigns
10 Monitor the effectiveness of IEC campaigns and activities through surveys, focus groups, and feedback from the community.
We are looking for an innovative and skilled IEC person to design and implement impactful Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) strategies aimed at driving awareness and behavior change in areas such as water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). The role involves creating engaging IEC materials, leading community awareness initiatives, conducting training programs, and working collaboratively with program teams, government bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure culturally appropriate and consistent messaging. Candidates should have 2-5 years of experience in IEC or behavior change communication, preferably within the WASH or rural development sectors, along with a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mass Communication, Social Work, or a related field. Strong creative skills, communication abilities, experience in participatory approaches, and proficiency with design tools are essential. This position provides a chance to contribute to sustainable development by empowering communities through effective communication and awareness-building efforts.
