Proposal Engineer / Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities : -

• Design and Development: Create detailed designs and drawings for heavy fabrication components, including wear-resistant products like composite wear plates and hardfacing consumables. Utilize solid modelling tools for mechanical design tasks, ensuring high-quality and precise outputs.
• Technical Specifications: Develop comprehensive technical specifications and documentation to ensure designs meet all relevant engineering standards and client requirements.
• 3D Modeling: Utilize CAD software to create 2D/3D models.
• Project Management: Manage design projects from concept to completion within a matrix structure, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Fabrication Support: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to provide technical support during the fabrication process, ensuring designs are accurately translated into final products.
• Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for design improvements and cost reductions, implementing changes to enhance product performance and manufacturability. Challenge current practices and propose new solutions.
• Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand their requirements and provide technical solutions, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and project records.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless operations.
• Travel: Willingness to travel, if needed, to meet client and project needs.

Qualifications:

• Education: Technical qualification in Mechanical Design Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: 2-5 years of proven experience in mechanical design engineering within the heavy fabrication industry, managing projects in a matrix structure.
• Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in CAD software and strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and fabrication processes.

• In-depth knowledge of welding techniques, processes and drawing symbols.

• Expertise in steel fabrication, including cutting, bending, machining, and assembling steel components.

• Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to perform complex calculations and simulations. High organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; other languages are an advantage. Capable of explaining technical concepts clearly and effectively to various stakeholders.
• Personality Traits:

• Confidence to challenge the organization and current practices, with a strong character to stand firm on decisions that may impact process timelines.

• Outgoing personality to interact effectively with the team, internal, and external customers at all levels.

• Demonstrated general business interest and understanding.

• Enthusiastic and dynamic character, capable of staying calm under pressure in a busy and complex environment.

• IT Literacy: Good IT literacy, including proficiency in Office, MS, and spreadsheet programming.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of materials science, with a particular emphasis on steel plates, castings, forgings, and related materials.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to heavy fabrication.
