Product Development Planning:
• Collaborate with the merchandising team to understand product requirements, market trends, and customer preferences.
• Develop product development plans, timelines, and critical paths in coordination with design, sourcing, and production teams.
• Conduct research on new materials, trims, and production techniques to enhance product quality and innovation.
Supplier Management and Collaboration:
• Identify, select, and onboard suppliers based on their capabilities, capacity, and compliance with quality standards.
• Establish strong working relationships with suppliers, ensuring effective communication, and timely coordination of product development activities.
• Collaborate with suppliers on product costing, material sourcing, and sample development.
Sample Development and Approval:
• Work closely with the design team to translate design concepts into detailed product specifications and technical packs.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely development of samples, providing clear instructions and specifications.
• Coordinate sample review sessions, gather feedback from stakeholders, and facilitate necessary revisions for sample approval.
Costing and Price Negotiation:
• Collaborate with suppliers and the sourcing team to obtain accurate product costing, considering materials, labor, and production processes.
• Analyze costing and pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
• Negotiate pricing with suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
Production Coordination:
• Monitor and track the production process, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and order quantities.
• Collaborate with the production team to resolve any production-related issues, such as capacity constraints or quality concerns.
• Coordinate with suppliers on production scheduling, material availability, and delivery timelines.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
• Collaborate with the quality assurance team to establish and enforce quality standards throughout the product development process.
• Conduct regular quality inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality specifications and customer requirements.
• Address any quality issues promptly, working with suppliers to implement corrective actions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design, merchandising, sourcing, and production, to ensure effective communication and alignment of product development activities.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings, providing updates on product development progress, challenges, and solutions.
• Coordinate with the merchandising team to ensure accurate product specifications, pricing, and delivery schedules.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of product development activities, including sample approvals, costing, and communication with suppliers.
• Prepare regular reports on product development status, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and recommendations for process improvement.
• Analyze data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, and process optimization.
