Collections & Recovery Manager (Legal & Sarfaesi) @ Chennai

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Collections & Recovery Manager with a strong legal background, particularly in SARFAESI and debt recovery. The ideal candidate will spearhead our collections and recovery processes, ensuring timely and effective resolution of non-performing assets (NPAs). You will be responsible for managing all aspects of legal recovery, from drafting and filing applications to representing the organization in courts and tribunals.

Responsibilities:

Collections & Recovery Strategy:

• Develop and implement comprehensive collections and recovery strategies, including SARFAESI actions, legal notices, and litigation.
• Manage and optimize the NPA portfolio, focusing on maximizing recovery rates and minimizing losses.
• Negotiate and execute settlements with delinquent customers, ensuring favorable outcomes for the organization.

Legal Processes & Compliance:

• Draft, file, and execute Section 14 applications, possession notices, and other legal documents.
• Represent the organization in Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRT), High Courts, and other judicial bodies.
• Collaborate with legal teams, advocates, and law enforcement agencies to execute warrants and other legal measures.
• Ensure strict adherence to legal timelines and maintain meticulous documentation.
• Provide legal opinions on collections cases and develop effective recovery strategies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of SARFAESI Act, Negotiable Instruments Act, and DRT procedures.

Case Management & Stakeholder Collaboration:

• Manage multiple cases simultaneously, prioritizing effectively and ensuring timely resolution.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including credit, risk, and operations teams.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including advocates, law enforcement agencies, and customers.
• Handling complex cases involving trusts, educational institutions, and high-value assets.

Qualifications

Proven experience in collections and recovery, with a strong focus on legal processes and SARFAESI actions.

Extensive knowledge of the SARFAESI Act, Negotiable Instruments Act, and DRT procedures.

Demonstrated success in managing NPA portfolios and achieving significant recovery rates.

Strong negotiation, communication, and litigation skills.

Ability to manage multiple cases and stakeholders effectively.

Comprehensive understanding of legal recovery processes and documentation.

Ability to manage complex cases.
