Role & responsibilities

• Ensure compliances under RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PFRDA regulations, FEMA, and Companies Act. Ensure compliance with AML/KYC, data protection, and cybersecurity laws applicable to financial institutions.
• Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, including RBI circulars, SEBI guidelines, and global banking norms.
• Advise the organisation on M&A, joint ventures, and investments in the banking and financial services sector.
• Draft and negotiate financing documents, including loan agreements, security documents, and credit facility agreements.
• Assist in obtaining licenses, registrations, and approvals from financial regulators.
• Support in structuring fintech and digital banking products in compliance with Indian laws. Represent clients in regulatory inquiries, enforcement actions, and litigation before RBI, SEBI, NCLT, and other tribunals.
• Handle disputes related to banking frauds, insolvency, and debt recovery.
• Offer advice on UPI, digital lending, BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later), and payment aggregator regulations.
• Work on technology-driven financial solutions, including block chain and cryptocurrency regulations.

Preferred candidate profile

• Worked with a top-tier law firm, regulatory authority, or in-house legal team of a bank/NBFC/fintech company.
• Experience dealing with cross-border financial transactions and international banking laws. Strong knowledge of RBI, SEBI, FEMA, IRDAI, and Companies Act regulations.
• Expertise in fintech laws, Banking & NBFC compliance, and financial crime regulations.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Law degree (LL.B.) from a recognized university; LL.M. in financial law (preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in banking & financial regulatory practice (law firm or in-house).
• Prior experience handling regulatory inquiries and enforcement matters.
