Tekla Structural Designer (Power & Infrastructure Projects)

Desein provides complete engineering and design services for power plants, including structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering. Designers using Tekla will primarily be involved in structural steel and concrete modeling, detailing, and fabrication drawings. Given our focus on power plants, EPC projects, and BOP packages, Tekla designers will be crucial in streamlining structural design and ensuring accuracy in steel and concrete detailing. Role & responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities:

3D Modeling & Detailing:

• Develop 3D models of structural steel, reinforced concrete (RCC), and composite structures using Tekla Structures.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of models for power plants, pipe racks, silos, chimneys, and heavy industrial buildings.

Steel & Concrete Detailing:

• Generate shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and erection drawings for structural components.
• Detail connections (bolted/welded) as per engineering and site requirements.
• Coordinate with fabricators to ensure feasibility of design.

BIM & Clash Detection:

• Work within a BIM workflow to detect and resolve clashes between structural, mechanical, and piping components.
• Collaborate with other disciplines using Bentley OpenPlant, STAAD, and ETAP.

Project Coordination:

• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, piping, and electrical teams to ensure seamless integration of structural components.
• Work closely with site engineers to provide as-built modifications if required

Standards & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with IS, AISC, BS, and other relevant codes for power plant structures.
• Apply industry best practices to optimize design for cost-effectiveness and constructability.

Automation & Efficiency:

• Utilize parametric modeling and custom components in Tekla to improve design efficiency.
• Develop customized templates and macros for faster detailing.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelors/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent.
• 310 years of experience in structural steel detailing & RCC modeling using Tekla Structures.
• Knowledge of, industrial buildings, pipe racks, silos, and large-span structures.
• Proficiency in BIM coordination, GA drawings, shop drawings, and reinforcement detailing.
• Familiarity with structural analysis software like STAAD.Pro is a plus.
• Understanding of fabrication, erection, and site construction methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and mechanical layouts.

Preferred candidate profile

Worked on coal/gas power plants, industrial EPC projects, or heavy infrastructure.

Exposure to Bentley OpenPlant, SolidWorks, and Caesar for better cross-discipline coordination.

Hands-on experience in cloud-based Tekla collaboration tools(Trimble Connect, etc.).
