We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual for an entry-level position as an Assistant Art Educator. This role is ideal for someone who is a pre-service art educator and practicing artist, with a developing academic record and a growing art portfolio.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow and learn at GSoM, which values professional development and implements a robust, research-based visual arts curriculum. They should be eager to explore the transformative role of art education in supporting learners with diverse needs, including those with learning challenges. The role focuses on fostering creative confidence in students, regardless of their prior experience with art, while understanding the importance of art in contributing to their overall well-being and growth.
Preferred Skills & Demonstrated Knowledge:
The Assistant Art Teacher will work closely with the Head Art & Design Teacher to:
1. Facilitate a Positive Learning Environment
Organize the classroom and learning resources to create a positive and inspiring space for students.
2. Support Lesson Delivery and Student Engagement
Guide students through sequenced lessons, from concept to completion, while inspiring and motivating intellectually curious and high-aptitude learners.
Assist in curriculum design and lesson preparation to ensure well-structured, engaging sessions.
3. Enhance Subject Knowledge
Develop a working knowledge of art history, artists, and art movements, with an emphasis on non-Western and traditionally underrepresented artists.
Build a robust visual art vocabulary and critical analysis skills to lead engaging critiques and facilitate formal analysis of learners artwork.
4. Apply Technical and Studio Skills
Demonstrate authentic knowledge of art materials, studio art processes, and procedures to effectively assist in teaching.
5. Support All Learners
Cultivate awareness and sensitivity to students with learning challenges, recognizing the importance of creative work as both a serious pursuit and a source of emotional well-being.
Additional Responsibilities and Expectations:
Support the development and execution of the Annual Visual Art Showcase, as well as additional exhibition opportunities beyond campus.
Openness to collaboration and interdisciplinary teaching & learning.
Adherence to all of school policies (as detailed in the Faculty/Staff Handbook) and to all Arts Department policies.
All full-time faculty members are also expected to contribute to the extracurriculars.
Requirements :
BFA in Fine Arts or Art Teacher Diploma (A.T.D.) is required

Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for learners
Arranging materials and taking care of logistics in the studio
Arranging and making resources for painting theory class
Be creative and have the willingness to learn on the job
