Full Stack Technical Lead-React & .NET

We are looking for a Software Technical Lead to help us build and evolve our distributed and scalable products. A successful you will be a well-rounded software development engineer with experience delivering software at scale in an Agile environment, and excel. Avalara is the worldwide leader in sales and use tax calculation. The work we do is fundamental to electronic commerce. We're the first to admit it - sales tax isn't easy. But revolutionising fundamental business processes -- that's big time. Responsibilities:

• Work with Scrum team members to design and test cloud-based software applications.
• You will report to Senior Manager, Software Engineer.
• Participate as a scrum member, estimating and evaluating existing stories, and writing new stories.
• Be an important participant in creating a Quality First, Zero Defects culture. Promote Shift Left approach.
• Develop and deliver enhancements to the existing codebase by creating well-documented, modular, and testable code.
• Review design specifications and create a technical design document.
• Display ownership over large programs and work across multiple components or technologies.
• Lead team in deliverables, guide increases in team velocity.
• Work on more strategic programs often spanning more than 1 quarter of development effort.
• Lead efforts to sub-divide vague requirements into applicable scopes of work for yourself and others for single and multi-component systems/changes.
• Scope problems and break down tasks for yourself and other engineers on the team.
• Demonstrate ownership of specific tasks, deliverables and issues, setting the tone for your peers and team members.
• Experience being able to collaborate on solutions, and build agreement.
• Experience providing engineering support to customer support team to resolve any critical customer issues, trade-offs, forecast/manage risk, identify solutions in team deliverables.
• Sequence deliverables/manage priorities to minimize risk.

Qualifications:

• Four years bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in a software development role, shipping complex applications to large-scale production environments.
• Experience in one of the front-end development frameworks preferably ReactJS
• Experience in C#.NET
• Exposure to Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud - at least one of them), Terraform.
• Working knowledge to build CI/CD pipeline (GitLab).
• Experience working in Agile team.
• Experience with data structures and algorithm.
• Knowledge of architectural styles and design patterns to provide solutions with simplistic and design.
• Experience in any relational database management system, e.g. SQL, PostgreSQL
• Experience building scalable and low latency address look up systems.
• Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners.
• Experience approaching a problem from different angles, analyzing pros and cons of different solutions.
