Pursuant to its mission, Tanager is seeking experienced and talented professionals for the position of Senior Finance Manager , based in Lucknow, India. The Tanager Senior Finance Manager has primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, managing and running of all financial activity of the company. He / She provides leadership direction and management of the accounting team, acts in the capacity of company secretary, builds and monitors budgets and reporting, and oversees budgeting for new business. This position ensures legal and banking compliance along with planning and running quarterly board meetings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage Accounting Operations for all active Tanager owned or affiliated entities:
Lead, support, guide and motivate accounting team
Review all accounting transactions and financial reports for correctness.
Analyze fund requirements and budget on monthly basis
Training of all accounting team members
Allocation and classification of branch office expenditure.
Coordination, Compliance and Internal Control for all active Tanager owned or affiliated entities:
Work with HQ Accounting & Systems Director to implement organization-wide accounting policies and procedures
Works with HQ Accounting & Systems Director to establish appropriate project accounting management
Oversee internal controls
Review project expenditure before sending it out for approval by Country Representative.
Ensure legal reporting compliances to the Reserve Bank of India, Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Income Tax department and International Taxation.
Liaison with bank and Govt. department as per the requirement.
Support client financial reporting
Troubleshoot any finance/accounting issue
Audit, Statutory Compliances & Taxation for all active Tanager owned or affiliated entities:
Lead annual country/project external audits
Support Tanager corporate audit as needed
Audit field expenditure as directed by the Country Representative
Support Internal Audit of Branch Office.
Coordinate client related audit.
Ensure compliance of Direct & Indirect Tax Laws.
Cross-functional responsibility for all active Tanager-owned or affiliated entities:
Assist Program Managers in accounting, audit, and legal compliance of all community-based organizations for established under the project.
Coordinate with the admin team in procurement.
Budgeting for all active Tanager-owned or affiliated entities:
Lead project budget analysis for incorporation into the Tanager corporate budget
Support and collaborate with the program team for proposal budget creation
Implementation of Farris system for all active Tanager-owned or affiliated entities:
Lead the process for re-design of the accounting modules to support the new registration of Tanager International PLC
Design and manage new processes and procedures for developing Farris reports to comply with PLC regulations
Train staff on Farris system
Perform Company Secretary duties as mandated by the Indian government:
Develop and implement corporate governance policies and ensure company operates with transparency and accountability
Serves as the organizer and manager for quarterly board meetings including agendas, resolutions, and the facilitation of communication between board members
Navigate and design strategies, processes, and procedures for meeting all financial regulatory requirements
Responsible for updating policies and procedures based on any changes to existing regulations for for-profit companies
Managing consultants responsible for outsourced financial filings to ensure accuracy and compliance with deadlines
Responsible for the design of transfer pricing compliance for the new PLC
Acts as custodian for all corporate records, meticulously managing and maintaining up to financial documentation in line with Indian regulations and corporate best practices
Closeout of all Tanager and ACDI/VOCA non-active entities:
Manage efficient closeout process of any non-active business entities within specified deadlines supplied by ACDI/VOCA and Tanager management
Ensure proper documentation and filing of all closeout-related returns to minimize liability and risk
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Minimum bachelor s degree in finance or accounting from an accredited institution. Master s degree a plus.
Must have Professional accreditation such as Chartered Certified Accountant (CCA), Certified International Management Accountant (CIMA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Expert Comptable (EC), or other recognized high-level national accounting professional certification.
Minimum 10 years experience in financial management and reporting in progressively more responsible roles.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience with international NGOs will be preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Proficiency in accounting software.
IFRS Certification and knowledge of Corporate Law & FCRA preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Access, SharePoint.
Knowledge of the country s pertinent laws, government regulations, and legal codes and precedents.
Strong communication and analytical skills, including the ability to gather and analyze a variety of information pertaining to issues and to develop appropriate recommendations for action.
Solid knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and technical skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Working in a team, willingness to travel, and manage stress and pressure.
