Data Engineer

Role & responsibilities

We seek an Engineer to innovate, design, implement, and adopt a next-generation map data platform. The Maps Data team owns the platform and systems that represent various features for the entire globe. You will bridge the engineering team and the users to optimize the usage and benefits of the software systems.

• You will be responsible for building various map features and related platforms used at scale.
• Leverage strong engineering, problem-solving, and communication skills to allow a collaborative development environment that creates a great product.
• You will be challenged in your ability to grasp things quickly and work fast with smart people.
• You will get your hands on the latest platforms and frameworks.

Preferred candidate profile

• 2-7 years of professional experience in Big Data platforms and building complex large-scale distributed systems with high availability.
• Strong development experience using Scala and Data Structures and Algorithms with demonstrated investigative and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in developing Spark Applications using Spark RDD API, Spark-SQL, Spark GraphX API, Spark Streaming API, Spark MLlib API, and Data frames APIs.
• Comprehensive understanding of Spark Advantages, Spark Workflows, writing Spark Jobs, Spark query tuning, and performance optimization.
• Expertise in Data Ingestion, Optimization Techniques, and designing/developing data transformation and aggregation pipelines.
• Experience working with leading-edge Big Data storage systems and technologies such as Hadoop, HDFS, AWS S3, AWS Lambda, Storm/Heron, Cassandra, Apache Kafka, Solr/ElasticSearch, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Postgres, and/or MySQL.
