Protocol Interface Expert - SCADA (5-10 yrs)

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PLC/SCADA Engineer with extensive expertise in IEC 60870 communication protocols. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced PLC/SCADA applications for critical infrastructure systems. This role demands in-depth knowledge of IEC 60870 protocol stack development, packet analysis, and simulation tools.

Responsibilities :

- Design and develop PLC/SCADA applications utilizing IEC 60870-104 and IEC 60870-101 communication protocols for real-time data acquisition and control.

- Develop, customize, and maintain IEC 60870 protocol stacks using third-party libraries such as TMW or similar solutions.

- Configure and troubleshoot communication between PLC/SCADA systems, RTUs, and other network devices using IEC 60870 protocols.

- Perform detailed packet analysis using Wireshark to diagnose and resolve complex communication issues.

- Utilize simulation tools (Fryer, ASE, TMW, DTM) to validate protocol implementations, test system behavior, and troubleshoot issues in a simulated environment.

- Develop and implement robust and reliable communication architectures for critical infrastructure systems.

- Conduct thorough testing and validation of PLC/SCADA applications and communication systems.

- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

- Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for deployed PLC/SCADA systems.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PLC/SCADA systems with other industrial automation components.

- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.

Qualifications :

- Extensive experience (5+ years) in PLC/SCADA system development.

- Mandatory : Proven expertise in building applications using IEC 60870-104 and IEC 60870-101 communication protocols.

- Mandatory : In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in IEC 60870 protocol stack development, specifically with TMW or similar third-party stacks.

- Mandatory : Proficiency in using packet analyzer tools like Wireshark for protocol analysis and troubleshooting.

- Mandatory : Experience with simulation tools such as Fryer, ASE, TMW, and DTM for protocol testing and validation.

- Strong understanding of network communication protocols and industrial automation systems.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with other industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3).

- Knowledge of PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text).

- Familiarity with SCADA software platforms (Wonderware, Siemens WinCC).

- Experience in the power industry or other critical infrastructure sectors.

- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.

- Experience with embedded systems development.
