Material Store Manager

Job Overview:

The Material Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient management of the material storage area, ensuring proper handling, storage, inventory management, and distribution of materials and supplies. This role is crucial for maintaining the supply chain, ensuring the availability of materials for production or project needs, and adhering to safety and quality standards. The Material Store Manager will lead a team of store personnel and work closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inventory Management:
  Oversee daily inventory operations, including receiving, storing, organizing, and issuing materials. Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems and perform regular stock audits.
• Material Handling & Storage:
  Ensure that materials are stored in appropriate conditions, organized, and easily accessible. Enforce best practices for material handling, minimizing damage and waste.
• Team Supervision:
  Lead and manage a team of store clerks and warehouse staff. Provide training, guidance, and support to ensure high levels of performance, safety, and compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Stock Control & Ordering:
  Monitor inventory levels, track material usage, and place orders to replenish stock as needed. Work closely with procurement and production teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Safety & Compliance:
  Ensure the safe storage of materials in compliance with industry regulations and internal safety guidelines. Conduct regular safety audits and address potential hazards.
• Record Keeping & Reporting:
  Maintain accurate records of materials received, issued, and used, and generate reports for management regarding stock levels, trends, and usage patterns. Handle documentation related to material movements, purchases, and returns.
• Coordination with Other Departments:
  Collaborate with procurement, production, logistics, and quality assurance departments to ensure smooth material flow, resolve discrepancies, and anticipate material needs.
• Quality Control:
  Inspect materials for quality and conformity to specifications upon receipt. Report any issues such as damaged or substandard materials to the relevant departments.
• Budget & Cost Control:
  Monitor and control the budget for materials and supplies. Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising material quality or availability.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience:
  
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a material or inventory management role, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or similar industries.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a team.
• Skills:
  
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Knowledge of inventory control techniques and material handling best practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze data and generate reports.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Certifications (optional):
  
• Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Forklift certification (if required by the job).

Physical Requirements:
