The Head of Corporate Lending will lead and oversee the corporate lending division for ORIX INDIA, focusing on building and expanding a portfolio of high-quality corporate loans. This role requires strategic leadership, risk management, and deep expertise in corporate finance, credit assessment, and relationship management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving profitability, ensuring compliance with regulatory norms, and fostering relationships with key stakeholders, while supporting the company's overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the corporate lending strategy in alignment with the company's growth objectives and risk appetite.
- Identify new business opportunities and markets for corporate lending, including structured finance, term loans, working capital loans, and other tailored financial solutions for corporates.
- Manage and expand the portfolio while maintaining high asset quality and profitability.
2. Business Development:
- Build and nurture relationships with corporate clients, financial institutions, and industry leaders to drive business growth.
- Lead and mentor the business development team to achieve sales targets and grow the loan book.
- Evaluate market trends and emerging opportunities to expand the client base and diversify the corporate lending portfolio.
3. Credit Risk Management:
- Oversee the credit evaluation process, including financial analysis, creditworthiness assessments, and risk identification.
- Ensure a robust credit approval framework and monitor adherence to credit policies and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with the risk and compliance teams to ensure timely identification and mitigation of credit risks.
4. Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of relationship managers, credit analysts, and loan officers to achieve business objectives.
- Foster a high-performance culture and provide guidance on complex transactions, negotiations, and client relationships.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration with legal, compliance, risk, and finance teams to ensure seamless execution of deals.
5. Operational Excellence:
- Optimize lending processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with internal and external policies.
- Regularly review the portfolio performance, identify early warning signs, and take corrective actions to maintain asset quality.
- Implement best practices and continuously improve credit and operational policies to enhance service delivery.
6. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines and statutory norms related to corporate lending, including those issued by RBI and other relevant authorities.
- Keep abreast of changing regulations and industry standards, ensuring the company's corporate lending practices remain compliant and competitive.
7. Reporting & Analytics:
- Provide regular reports to senior management and the board on portfolio performance, profitability, risk exposure, and market trends.
- Use data analytics to track and forecast performance, identifying potential growth opportunities and risks.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Deep Knowledge of Corporate Lending: Extensive understanding of corporate finance, structured lending, and large-scale loan products.
- Strategic Acumen: Ability to think strategically and execute plans to achieve business growth and profitability.
- Strong Analytical Skills: Proficiency in credit analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment.
- Leadership Abilities: Proven track record of leading and motivating teams to drive performance.
- Relationship Management: Strong networking and client relationship-building skills, with experience dealing with C-suite executives and decision-makers.
- Risk & Compliance Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements in the NBFC sector and the ability to navigate the complex regulatory landscape.
- Result-Oriented: Ability to set and achieve ambitious goals in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
Qualifications:
- MBA/PGDM in Finance, Economics, or related field from a reputed institute.
- Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in corporate lending, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within an NBFC or bank.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large corporate lending portfolios.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory environment for NBFCs in India.
