About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Finance to lead the finance function and support strategic financial decision-making for the organization.
The AVP of Finance will work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams to oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, reporting, and compliance.
This role demands strong leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to drive financial performance and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Leadership: Lead the finance team in all aspects of financial management, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis to ensure the organization's financial health and sustainability.
- Strategic Planning: Partner with senior leadership to develop and execute long-term financial strategies and business plans that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Direct the annual budgeting process and develop regular financial forecasts, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and performance goals.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage the organization's cash flow, ensuring liquidity and optimal financial resource allocation to support operational needs and strategic initiatives.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, standards, and tax requirements.
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
- Provide training, support, and guidance to ensure a high level of performance, accountability, and professional growth.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as a key liaison between finance and other departments, ensuring clear communication and collaboration to support business goals.
- Prepare and present financial information to internal stakeholders and the board of directors.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve financial processes, reporting systems, and internal controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness across the finance function.
- Mergers & Acquisitions: Support the finance team in evaluating, executing, and integrating mergers, acquisitions, or joint ventures, as required.
- Strategic Financial Projects: Lead or support key finance projects, such as system upgrades, cost management initiatives, financial modeling, and data-driven decision-making efforts.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 8-9 years of experience in finance, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a leadership or management role, preferably within a corporate finance, investment banking, or financial services environment.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a professional certification (e., CFA, CPA) is highly preferred.
- Financial Expertise: Strong knowledge of financial management, financial statements, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align financial strategies with the organization's long-term goals and objectives. Experience in long-term business planning and capital management.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills with a proven track record of using data to drive decision-making and improve business outcomes.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in building and leading high-performing finance teams. Systems Knowledge: Proficient in financial software systems, ERP platforms (e., SAP, Oracle), and advanced Excel skills. Experience with financial modeling and business intelligence tools is a plus.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to tackle complex financial challenges
