Job Description: Accounts Head
Position Overview: The Accounts Head is responsible for overseeing the companys accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves managing the accounting team, establishing effective controls, and collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations. The Accounts Head plays a critical role in cash flow management, budgeting, and the development of financial policies to support business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll. Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes. Monitor accounting systems to ensure efficient data entry and report generation.
2. Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and present financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow statements) in accordance with GAAP/IFRS. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including tax filings and audits. Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and resolve any audit findings.
3. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management: Monitor cash flow and ensure optimal liquidity to meet operational needs. Manage working capital by overseeing collections, payables, and inventory reconciliation. Support banking relationships and coordinate with financial institutions for operational requirements.
4. Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Track actual performance against budgets and provide variance analysis. Provide management with actionable insights based on financial trends and forecasts.
5. Internal Controls & Risk Management: Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy. Identify and mitigate financial risks, including credit and operational risks. Ensure compliance with company policies and improve processes where necessary.
6. Team Leadership & Development: Lead, train, and mentor the accounting team to ensure high performance. Assign roles and responsibilities, monitor performance, and provide feedback. Foster a collaborative work environment focused on continuous improvement.
7. Coordination with Stakeholders: Work closely with the finance, procurement, and operations teams to support business objectives. Assist in preparing reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders. Ensure smooth communication between internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or CA preferred). 8+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance requirements. Expertise in ERP systems and financial reporting tools. Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills. Ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
