Storekeeper

Job Overview: The storekeeper is responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution of food, beverages, and supplies within the food service operation. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and knowledge of food safety standards to ensure that all products are properly handled and available when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inventory Management:
   
• Receive and check deliveries against purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
• Record all stock movements (receiving, issuing, returns, etc.) and maintain up-to-date records.
• Organize and store food items and supplies according to proper storage procedures (e.g., temperature control, labeling, FIFO First In, First Out).
• Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile physical inventory with system records.
• Notify management when inventory levels are low or when stock needs to be replenished.
2. Quality Control & Safety:
   
• Ensure that food items are stored in a safe, sanitary, and organized manner to prevent spoilage or contamination.
• Monitor expiration dates and rotate stock to ensure that older items are used first.
• Maintain proper temperature control for perishable items and report any discrepancies in temperature or storage conditions.
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations as required by local health authorities.
3. Supply Distribution:
   
• Issue food, beverages, and supplies to kitchen, bar, and service staff as needed.
• Track and document all issued items to maintain accurate records.
• Ensure the timely delivery of stock to various departments within the food service operation.
4. Recordkeeping & Documentation:
   
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of inventory, deliveries, and stock usage.
• Prepare reports for management on stock levels, discrepancies, and any issues related to inventory management.
5. Collaboration & Communication:
   
• Work closely with kitchen staff, purchasing, and management to ensure the smooth operation of food service.
• Communicate with vendors or suppliers regarding orders, delivery issues, or stock shortages.
• Assist with the receiving of large or bulk deliveries and ensure proper handling of products.
6. Equipment & Maintenance:
   
• Ensure that storage areas, shelves, and equipment are clean, safe, and properly maintained.
• Report any maintenance or equipment issues to management promptly.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require a food safety certification or a related qualification).
• Previous experience in food service or inventory management is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food storage practices.
• Ability to operate basic inventory and warehouse management systems.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items when necessary.

Working Conditions:

• Typically work in a fast-paced food service environment.
• May be required to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on the nature of the operation.
