Job Description Assistant Manager (SCM)

Department: Supply Chain Management (SCM)
Location: Mumbai, Spectrum Electrical Industries Limited
Experience: 5-10 years
Industry: Manufacturing (Electrical Components, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Powder Coating, Molding, Plating, Subcontracting, and Finished Goods)

Job Summary:

Spectrum Electrical Industries Limited is seeking an Assistant Manager Supply Chain Management (SCM) to oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, ensuring efficient production planning, material planning, inventory control, vendor management, customer satisfaction, and supply chain optimization. The ideal candidate will align supply chain strategies with business objectives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Control (PPC)

  • Develop and implement production schedules based on demand forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to ensure on-time production.
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and capacity utilization to minimize bottlenecks.
  • Adjust production plans based on demand fluctuations, supply chain disruptions, or machine availability.

2. Material Planning

  • Create material requirement plans (MRP) to ensure the availability of raw materials and components.
  • Optimize minimum order quantities (MOQs), safety stocks, and reorder levels to reduce inventory costs.
  • Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of CRCA sheets, aluminum, copper, plastic molded parts, fasteners, coatings, and electrical components.
  • Develop alternate sourcing strategies to mitigate supply risks.

3. Inventory Management

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to balance cost efficiency and production continuity.
  • Implement ABC/XYZ analysis to categorize inventory based on consumption patterns.
  • Reduce obsolete and slow-moving inventory through strategic planning.
  • Improve inventory turnover ratio by minimizing excess stock and ensuring lean operations.

4. Supply Chain Optimization & Efficiency Improvement

  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives in procurement, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Drive supply chain digitalization, including ERP/SAP-based tracking of materials and processes.
  • Develop supplier performance dashboards and KPIs to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and Value Engineering (VA/VE) for process improvements.

5. Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Evaluate, onboard, and develop new suppliers for raw materials, subcontracted items, and finished goods.
  • Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and annual agreements to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality, lead time, and reliability standards.
  • Establish vendor risk management strategies, including multiple sourcing and contingency planning.

6. Customer Satisfaction & Communication

  • Ensure on-time delivery (OTD) performance by aligning production schedules with customer orders.
  • Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to manage order fulfillment and resolve delivery issues.
  • Maintain transparent communication with customers regarding order status, lead times, and delays.
  • Address customer complaints and logistics challenges by collaborating with internal teams.

7. Logistics & Distribution Management

  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
  • Optimize freight costs, transport routes, and warehouse space utilization.
  • Coordinate with logistics partners and transporters to improve distribution efficiency.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance for domestic and export shipments.

Key Skills & Competencies Required:

Production & Material Planning: Experience with PPC, MRP, inventory forecasting
Supply Chain Optimization: Process automation, digital transformation, Lean Six Sigma
Vendor & Supplier Management: Supplier evaluation, cost negotiation, alternate sourcing
Logistics & Inventory Control: Distribution management, warehouse optimization, JIT/Kanban
ERP & Data Analytics: SAP (MM Module), Oracle, or other ERP tools
Customer Relationship Management: Order tracking, issue resolution, proactive communication

Required Qualifications & Experience:

📌 Education: B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or MBA (Supply Chain/Operations) or any relevant qualifications.
📌 Experience: 5-10 years in SCM, PPC, Inventory Management, or Logistics in Manufacturing
