Job Description

Role & responsibilities

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the sales activities in a

designated geographic area. This includes leading and motivating a team of sales representatives, driving sales performance, expanding the customer base, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets. The role requires a combination of leadership skills, strategic planning, and hands-on sales expertise to deliver results in a competitive market environment.


1. Sales Target Achievement:

  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets and KPIs for the assigned area.
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive revenue growth, increase market share, and achieve profitability goals.

2. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales representatives or field agents within the region.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching, feedback, and training to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Foster a high-performance culture with an emphasis on accountability and results.

3. Market Analysis and Strategic Planning:

  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify new business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies tailored to the specific region and market conditions.
  • Provide regular reports on sales performance, market conditions, and competitor analysis to senior management.

4. Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and business partners.
  • Resolve customer issues or concerns promptly to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling additional products and services.

5. Sales Reporting and Forecasting:

  • Monitor and track sales performance metrics, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of results.
  • Provide sales forecasts, pipelines, and actionable insights to senior management.
  • Utilize CRM tools and other sales technologies to manage customer data and sales activity.

6. Product Knowledge and Training:

  • Stay up-to-date with product knowledge, industry trends, and competitors.
  • Ensure that the sales team is equipped with the necessary tools, training, and resources to succeed.

7. Collaboration and Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the marketing, customer service, and logistics teams to ensure smooth sales processes and customer experience.
  • Work closely with the regional and national sales teams to align sales efforts and strategies.

8. Budget Management:

  • Manage and control the budget for the assigned area, ensuring cost-effective and efficient sales operations.
  • Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives when possible.


Preferred candidate profile

  • Education: A bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. (Relevant certifications or an MBA is a plus.)
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in sales.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Experience managing and leading a sales team is essential
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze sales data and market trends.
  • Proficiency in CRM software.
  • Other:
  • Ability to travel within the assigned geographic area.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Customer-focused with a results-driven approach.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel: Frequent travel within the region to meet customers, prospects, and sales team members.
  • Work Environment: Office-based with field visits as required.
