API Security Support Engineer (NV RM 2570)

Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Cequence API Security Support Engineer to join our cybersecurity team. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 8 years of experience in API security, particularly with Cequence API Security solutions, and a deep understanding of network security, web application firewalls, and threat detection. You will be responsible for implementing, managing, and supporting Cequence s API security platform to ensure the safety and compliance of our API infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
API Security Support: Provide comprehensive support for the Cequence API Security platform, including configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Implementation and Deployment: Lead the deployment and integration of Cequence API Security solutions into various environments, ensuring seamless operations and compatibility with existing systems.
Incident Response: Collaborate with the security operations team to identify, investigate, and respond to API-related security incidents and vulnerabilities.
Monitoring and Analysis: Continuously monitor API traffic and security events using the Cequence platform to identify anomalies, potential threats, and performance issues.
Policy Management: Develop, configure, and fine-tune security policies to protect APIs against common threats like data leaks, malicious bots, API abuse, and OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.
Security Audits: Conduct regular API security assessments and audits to identify security gaps and provide recommendations for improvement.
Documentation: Create and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), best practices, and incident reports related to API security.
Collaboration: Work closely with the cybersecurity, development, and network teams to ensure the robust protection of API endpoints.
Technical Support: Serve as a subject matter expert for API security, providing support and guidance to internal teams and customers regarding Cequence platform usage and best practices.
Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest developments in API security trends, vulnerabilities, and threat landscapes to provide informed recommendations.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
Experience: 5-8 years of hands-on experience in API security, with specific expertise in Cequence API Security solutions.

Technical Skills:
o Strong understanding of API security concepts, frameworks, and technologies.
o Hands-on experience with Cequence API Security, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), and other API security platforms.
o Proficiency in network protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, REST, SOAP) and API management tools.
o Knowledge of common API threats, including OWASP API Security Top 10.
o Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) systems.

Soft Skills:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Excellent communication and documentation skills.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Certifications: Relevant security certifications like CEH, CISSP, or vendor-specific API security certifications are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in threat intelligence and detection, bot mitigation, and API abuse prevention.
Prior experience in telecommunications or large-scale enterprise environments.
Knowledge of automation and scripting languages (Python, Bash) for security operations.
