Senior Medical Transcriptionist

Role & responsibilities

• Transcribe medical reports, summaries, and correspondence from audio recordings or dictations with high accuracy.
• Proofread and edit transcripts to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance with medical standards.
• Identify inconsistencies or errors in medical dictations and seek clarification as needed.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
• Utilize and stay updated with transcription tools, software, and medical references.
• Adhere to prescribed formats, styles, and guidelines for medical documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians, healthcare providers, and the QA team for accurate documentation.
• Meet daily and monthly productivity targets without compromising quality.

Preferred candidate profile

• Proficient in medical transcription with an excellent grasp of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
• Strong listening and typing skills with a typing speed of 60+ words per minute.
• Familiarity with transcription software, speech recognition tools, and electronic medical records (EMR).
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
• Effective time management and multitasking abilities.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Knowledge of legal documentation requirements for medical records.

Requirement:

• Bachelors degree or certification in Medical Transcription, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience as a Medical Transcriptionist in a hospital or clinical environment.
• Certification in medical transcription (e.g., RHDS or CHDS) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
